On when things don't work out ...

Some of you would be saying ... "Yeah. He's the right one to talk about this - after all just look at him" ... Yeah Right ! ! !

So why would I want to write about "when things don't work out"? Because ... you are right some things have not worked out for me.

Let me tell you a story ... Its true ... and its about me. When my daughter was born, quite a few people wished me well for sleepless nights of feeding her and changing diapers. I was scared. But, what only a few told me, was what has stayed with me ... "Its going to be a great experience watch her grow, Rahul", they said. It really was.

Like any enthusiastic father, I wanted be there to see her crawl, talks and other things fathers are keen for. So when I was told that she had crawled for the first time, I was happy and sad - happy because she was growing, and sad because I missed it. So for a few days after the news I kept an eagle eye out for when she would crawl again. and all I could see her doing was get up on all fours and push, so all she did was fall back. "That is the first stage of crawling ... Dummy!!!", I was told. "Huh!!! No one told me that!!!" I said. and from then on I looked out for even the smallest of change in her effort to get independent.

So, as I watched her grow, she rose and fell numerous times. First came crawling. Then standing - first with support, then without. Then came walking - first the hesitant steps - clutching on to whatever gave her stability and comfort, and then she moved on to walking independently. My daughter did not need me anymore to move around - I was happy and sad once again.

So, what does that have to do with things not working out? "Everything", I say. Everytime my daughter fell - it hurt her. Sometimes a bit ... sometimes a lot. What do you think would have happened if my daughter, or for that matter if we as children decided we are not going to get up again saying "Falling down - It hurts to much, and the only way not to fall down is not to get up" Think.

The question I want to leave you with is ... what do you do when you fall down?

What do you do when you fail?

What do you do when things don't work out for you?

Think of the possibilities we can open for ourselves if we are not worried about failing.
